Ticket holders will board the extraordinary sailing vessels and interact with crew members and sailing trainees. People of all ages will thrill at the size and scope of these historic vessels which evoke images of adventures at sea. The festival is wheelchair accessible and most stage programming is staffed with American Sign Language Interpreters. Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the river over forty years ago, the Great Hudson River Revival initially helped raise the funds to build the sloop Clearwater, which has since become a world-renowned floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action. Today, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is a non-profit organization that sails at the forefront of the nation’s environmental challenges. The public will be allowed to visit the majestic vessels at State Pier, City Pier andFort Trumbull in New London and Groton. NOTE  OpSail 2012 CT also includes Sailfest, southeastern Connecticut's premiere summertime event featuring a major fireworks display, amusement rides, free entertainment, and over 100 vendors lining the streets of downtown New London.
