Tall Ships Festival:

Description Greenport will host the Tall Ships fleet on Memorial Day Weekend (May 26th – 28th) as part of the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Series. The sail begins in Savannah, Georgia (May 3-7), races up the East Coast to Greenport, Long Island, then to Newport, Rhode Island (July 6-9) and Halifax, Nova Scotia (July 19-23). Once at port, visitors can board the training ships and meet with crews who are enjoying a sea education.
Viewing the GREENPORT TALL SHIPS is a one of a kind experience! Ticket holders will board the extraordinary sailing vessels and interact with crew members and sailing trainees. People of all ages will thrill at the size and scope of these historic vessels which evoke images of adventures at sea. This year’s TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE will commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, with celebrations and festivals along theAtlanticCoast.

Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival

Description Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival will feature a number of superb storytellers and family-oriented entertainers as well as juried crafts, the Green Living Expo, the Working Waterfront with small boat exhibits and rides, environmental education displays and exhibits, and the Circle of Song where audience participation is the focus. The festival is wheelchair accessible and most stage programming is staffed with American Sign Language Interpreters.
Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the river over forty years ago, the Great Hudson River Revival initially helped raise the funds to build the sloop Clearwater, which has since become a world-renowned floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action. Today, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is a non-profit organization that sails at the forefront of the nation’s environmental challenges. The revenue raised by the Revival goes to supportClearwater’s numerous educational programs and its work toward environmental and social justice—as well as keeping theClearwater afloat.

Description The international tall ships will arrive and anchor, with a welcome ceremony in Niantic on Friday, July 6 followed by the Parade of Sail from Niantic to New London Harbor on Saturday, July 7. The public will be allowed to visit the majestic vessels at State Pier, City Pier andFort Trumbull in New London and Groton.
