The Elco Legacy
Elco is the original production electric motor boat, first introduced at the World's Fair in 1893. There, in Chicago on Lake Michigan, 55 Elco electric boats carried over one million passengers.
Today, Elco Motor Yachts still produces some of the finest and most beautiful boats, along with the most highly advanced electric drive systems. Indeed, Elco stands among the most significant companies in American boating history.
Elco continues to make history in American yachting. Elco motors, boats, and yachts today are built to the highest standards – just as they were from the beginning. And just as it has always been, the Elco name today stands for quiet beauty and sound innovation.

The Electric Motor Difference
With the Elco, you experience the true scent and sounds of being on the water.
- No time spent waiting for the engine to warm up
- No need to raise one's voice to be heard over the drone of a diesel motor
- A pleasant lack of oil and diesel or gas in the bilge
- No money or time spent on engine winterization
- No diesel or gasoline odor that masks the wonderful salty smell of the harbor or the crispness of the pines alongside the lake
