Post Sandy Update

November 1, 2012 We’re open and back in operation, phones are up and the fuel docks are pumping !  A major cleanup is underway at Cove afterSandy’s visit. We were very lucky the storm moved through quickly and the tidal surge was less than expected.  It actually crested one hour before high tide was scheduled, and the high water mark in the shop exceeded the 12/11/92 storm by only 12”.  Naturally we were all worried about the docks going over the pilings. Thankfully that didn’t happen and the 400 plus boats on the docks in the marina were all fine. Boats that were blocked fared well and none floated away, but sadly two sailboats did get forced over and need extensive repairs.  A big THANKS to all who came early to secure their boats, and to all that helped with other’s boats. We really have an incredible community of boaters here.  Most docks are at 100% electric and water. The showers are working, so consider using them if your power is still out at home.  We have resumed hauling and shrink wrapping in earnest to race winter’s onset.  If you arrived ahead of the storm but were scheduled for later this month, we will have to move you up to “immediate” status in order to keep up with the winter schedule and make room for others due to arrive.  For those of our customers who may have sustained damaged elsewhere, we will stand by to assist with logistics for your arrival to Cove, should you require that.  We realize you have many other things to focus on right now. We will make sure your boat is well taken care of.  We can be reached at 203-838-3681 or service@norwalkcove.com   Thank You,  Rob Gardella Service Director NorwalkCoveMarina
